Wedding dresses and kimono for your Mt. Fuji photoshoot
Your outfit is included in every plan. Choose from more than 600 pieces held across our seven studios: wedding dresses, coloured dresses and tuxedos, and for a Japanese look, the white shiromuku, the richly patterned iro-uchikake and the groom's montsuki hakama. A stylist coordinates the whole look, from the dress to the accessories and bouquet.
Six kinds of outfit
Wedding dress
A-line, princess, mermaid and slender silhouettes in white and ivory, from clean minimal designs to full lace. In the wide landscapes around Mt. Fuji, dresses with volume in the skirt and a long veil photograph beautifully.
Coloured dress
Soft pinks, moss greens, blues and deeper tones. A coloured dress is a lovely second outfit on the combination plans, and looks striking against the green of the lawns and the blue of the lake.
Tuxedo
Classic black, navy and grey, plus beige and lighter shades that suit the outdoor light. Tie, cufflinks and suspenders are included. Shirts and other items can be purchased as a set if you prefer.
Shiromuku
The all-white bridal kimono, worn with a white or gold-trimmed under-kimono. Quiet and timeless. Against the snow-capped mountain and the lake, white on white is unforgettable.
Iro-uchikake
The coloured over-kimono woven and embroidered with flowers, cranes and seasonal motifs. Reds, greens, blues and the pale "moss mode" series. Colour and pattern come into their own in a wide landscape.
Montsuki hakama
The groom's formal kimono: a black or coloured haori jacket over striped hakama trousers, with haori cord, fan and setta sandals included.
Will the dress fit?
Most of our dresses have a lace-up back, so a single dress adjusts across Japanese sizes 5 to 15, which corresponds roughly to US 2–12, UK 6–16 or EU 34–44. Kimono are wrapped and tied to the body and fit a wide range of sizes. Our stylists adjust everything at the fitting.
If you need a size we do not carry, you are welcome to bring your own dress or suit. There is no fee for bringing your own outfit.
Fittings are held at the studio in Japan, normally on a day before the shoot. If your schedule is tight, tell us: we can advise you online beforehand and prepare a shortlist so the fitting is quick. Hair and makeup on the day are done at the departure studio and included in the plan.
What photographs well at the mountain
Lake, sky and flower fields. The background is enormous, so what reads in the photo is your silhouette from a distance. Full skirts and long veils catch the wind on the lakeshore. In the zinnia field, a dress with plenty of white holds its own against the colour. In the woods and on the willow path, lace and texture come forward in the soft light.
For a kimono, a pale iro-uchikake glows in front of a snow-capped Fuji; a deep red or green one sings in the flower fields. Beige and light grey tuxedos suit the outdoor light better than black does.
Our stylists have dressed many couples for this tour and will show you what has worked. If you have a picture in mind, bring it.

Questions about outfits
Is the dress included in the price?
Yes. One outfit for each of you is included in the tour, and two outfits each on the combination plans. Premium pieces can be chosen as paid upgrades.
How many outfits can we wear?
One on the Two-Location Tour. Two on Mt. Fuji + Studio, Mt. Fuji + Location and Mt. Fuji + Chapel, which lets you combine a dress and a kimono in one day.
Can I wear my own dress?
Yes, and there is no fee for doing so. Please tell us in advance so we can plan the dressing time.
Do you have larger or smaller sizes?
Most dresses lace up at the back and adjust across Japanese sizes 5–15 (about US 2–12). Kimono fit a wide range. If we do not have your size, bringing your own outfit is welcome.
Can the groom choose his outfit too?
Yes. Tuxedos in a range of colours and montsuki hakama are included, and the groom's hair styling can be added for ¥6,600.
When and where is the fitting?
At the Yokohama or Nagoya departure studio, or at any of our seven studios if you are staying elsewhere in Japan. A fitting takes about an hour. If you cannot visit before the shoot, we can advise online and fit you on the morning of the shoot; ask us about the schedule.
Can I bring reference photos for hair and makeup?
Please do. Bring them on the day or email them in advance, and tell us about any allergies so our team can choose suitable products.
