Questions about a Mt. Fuji photoshoot

Everything couples from overseas ask us before they book, from where to meet to what happens if the mountain hides behind clouds. If your question is not here, email us and we will answer in English.

How it works

From first email to your photos

Step 01

Enquire

Send us your dates, group size and whether you prefer a dress or a kimono. We reply in English by email with a plan and a quote.

Step 02

Consult & reserve

An online video consultation if you like. To reserve, pay the ¥50,000 deposit by card through the link we email you.

Step 03

Fitting

At the studio in Japan, usually the day before. Our stylist coordinates the dress or kimono, accessories and bouquet. Pay the balance by card.

Step 04

Shoot

Hair, makeup and dressing at the studio, then two Mt. Fuji locations with your photographer and attendant.

Step 05

Select

Back at the studio we explain how to choose your photos and the 10 for the Special Retouch.

Step 06

Delivery

Your edited photos arrive as digital files about 3 weeks later, or in 1–2 weeks with express delivery.

About the tour

What exactly is the Mt. Fuji tour?

A one-day pre-wedding photoshoot that visits two locations at the foot of Mt. Fuji: Lake Yamanaka, where the mountain reflects on the water, and Hana no Miyako Flower Park with its seasonal flower fields. You get dressed at our Yokohama or Nagoya studio, we drive you to both spots, and you receive 200 edited photos.

Where do we meet?

At WEDDING AVENUE Yokohama (3 minutes from Nihon-odori Station, about 40 minutes from Tokyo Station) or WEDDING AVENUE Nagoya (5 minutes from Shinsakae-machi Station). Couples staying in Tokyo normally depart from Yokohama. Hair, makeup and dressing are done at the studio before we leave together. If you would prefer to meet at the location, ask us.

How long does the day take?

From Yokohama, about 7.5 hours: 11:00 at the studio, 12:30 departure, shooting from 14:30 to 16:15, back at the studio around 18:15. From Nagoya, about 9 hours: 9:00 at the studio, 10:30 departure, shooting from 13:30, back around 18:15.

How much time do we actually spend shooting?

About 45 minutes at each location, 90 minutes in total, during which your photographer takes 400 or more frames. The combination plans add a studio, chapel or third-location session.

Can family, children or a pet come along?

Yes. Tell us how many people (or pets) will join when you enquire so we can arrange suitable transport. The lawns of Hana no Miyako Park are ideal for family photos.

Do staff travel with us?

Yes. Your photographer and attendant travel with you from the studio, handle all the logistics at the locations and bring you back to the studio.

Booking & consultation

How far in advance should we book?

Three to six months ahead is comfortable, especially for autumn colour, spring flowers and weekends. We can sometimes fit shorter notice; just ask.

Can we have a consultation before we travel?

Yes. We offer online video consultations in which we go through plans, the schedule of the day and outfit options. We also correspond in English by email at any stage.

Do we need a wedding date to book a photoshoot?

No. Many couples shoot without a wedding planned, or long after their wedding. The tour is open to anyone.

What do we need to decide before booking?

Only your preferred date, the departure studio and whether you lean towards a dress or a kimono. Everything else, including the exact outfits, can be decided later.

Can we change the plan after booking?

Yes, up to the shoot date. Tell us as early as you can and we will adjust the quote.

Are you open every day?

Yes, 10:00 to 20:00 Japan time, every day except over the New Year holidays.

Prices & payment

How much does the tour cost?

The Two-Location Tour is ¥162,580 in a dress or ¥170,280 in a kimono, tax included, departing from Yokohama on a weekday. Departing from Nagoya adds ¥22,000; a Saturday, Sunday or Japanese public holiday adds ¥22,000. Combination plans with two outfits start at ¥229,460.

What is included?

Outfits, hair and makeup, dressing, an attendant, bouquet and boutonnière, accessories, the photographer, colour retouching, photo selection, location arrangements, transport from the studio, travel fees, the Mt. Fuji Special Retouch for 10 photos and free rescheduling for rain. Nothing is added on the day.

How do we pay from overseas?

By credit card. A ¥50,000 deposit secures your date; we email you a secure payment link. The deposit is deducted from the plan price, and the balance is paid by card within 3 days of confirming your outfits.

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 30 days before the shoot, no fee other than the deposit. 29–15 days before: 30% of the quote. 14–8 days: 50%. 7 days to the day before: 80%. On the day: 100%. Rescheduling because of rain is free and is not a cancellation.

Do you add charges for foreign customers?

No. Overseas couples pay the same prices as couples in Japan. Prices are in Japanese yen and charged in yen; your card issuer converts at its own rate.

Is there a discount for weekdays?

Weekdays avoid the weekend surcharge, so they are ¥22,000 to ¥44,000 cheaper depending on the plan, and both locations are much quieter.

Outfits, hair & makeup

Can we wear a kimono?

Yes. The kimono plan includes a shiromuku (white kimono) or iro-uchikake (coloured kimono) for the bride and a montsuki hakama for the groom. On the combination plans you can wear a kimono at Mt. Fuji and a dress in the studio or chapel.

Will the dress fit me?

Most dresses have a lace-up back and adjust across Japanese sizes 5–15 (about US 2–12, UK 6–16). Kimono fit a wide range of sizes. If we do not have your size, you are welcome to bring your own outfit at no charge.

When is the fitting?

At the studio, normally on a day before the shoot; it takes about an hour. If your schedule is tight we can advise online beforehand and arrange the fitting on the morning of the shoot.

Is hair and makeup included?

Yes, for the bride, at the departure studio on the morning of the shoot. Bring reference photos if you have a style in mind, and tell us about allergies. The groom's hair styling can be added for ¥6,600.

Can we rent accessories?

Head accessories, veils, gloves, necklaces and earrings are available for both Western and Japanese outfits. Pearl necklace and earrings, petticoat, tie, cufflinks and suspenders are already included.

On the day & weather

What if Mt. Fuji is hidden by clouds?

The shoot goes ahead. Both locations have beautiful backdrops even without the mountain: the boardwalk, the willow path, the lawns and the flower fields. Afterwards, with the Mt. Fuji Special Retouch, we edit your favourite 10 photos so the mountain appears as it would have on a clear day, free of charge.

What if it rains?

You can reschedule for free as many times as needed. Please contact us by noon the day before. If your travel dates do not allow another day, we can discuss shooting in light rain.

When is Mt. Fuji most likely to be visible?

From November to February. A long-term record from Fuji City shows the whole mountain visible at 8 a.m. on about 60% of days in December and January, but only about 10% of days in July. Mornings are clearer than afternoons in every season.

Will it be cold?

Lake Yamanaka is at about 1,000 m and roughly 5°C cooler than Tokyo. Bring a front-opening layer you can put on between shots without disturbing your hair, comfortable shoes for walking, and in winter, warm socks and heat packs.

Where do we change?

At the studio before departure and again on return. The locations have toilets, and we show you where they are at each stop.

We are not good at posing.

Nobody is at first. Your photographer guides every pose and glance, and most couples say the day felt like a relaxed outing rather than a photoshoot.

Does the team speak English?

We correspond in English by email, and online consultations are held in English. Our photographers and hair and makeup artists are not fluent English speakers, but they have looked after many couples from overseas and guide you with simple English, gestures and a translation device. Couples tell us it works smoothly.

Photos & delivery

How many photos do we get?

200 edited photos on the Two-Location Tour, 300 on the studio and location plans and 350 on the chapel plan, from 400 to 700 frames shot.

When and how do we receive them?

About 3 weeks after the shoot, as digital files sent online. Express delivery in 2 weeks (¥6,600) or 1 week (¥11,000) per style is available if you are leaving Japan soon.

Can we choose the photos?

Yes. After the shoot we explain the selection process, and you choose your favourites, including the 10 photos for the Mt. Fuji Special Retouch.

Can we order an album?

Yes. We make albums in ten designs, leather and art mounts and welcome panels. They are produced in Japan and ship within Japan only, so we can deliver to your hotel if your stay allows, or to a friend or family member in Japan.

May we post the photos on social media?

Of course. Mt. Fuji photos are very popular on social media, and we would love to see them.
